I never paid much attention to the teenage boys who rode their bikes to Dairy Queen where I worked as a teenager. I thought they were just another group of annoying boys lurking and causing mischief. Little did I know I was serving medium twist cones to Brian, my future husband!!
We thought our journey began with a blind date and nine innings at a Detroit Tigers game. But the truth is, we had unknowingly been a part of each other’s story for years before we ever met.
We grew up just a mile apart, shared a circle of mutual friends, spent time at the same neighborhood bowling alley, and crossed paths more times than we could count. Yet somehow, we remained strangers until the timing was finally right.
Right now, you don’t know us, and we are strangers to you. As our story meets yours, we’re grateful for the chance to share who we are, the life we’ve built together, and the love we hope to share with you and your child.
Our relationship started in 2014 with a connection online and while Brian was a little slow to make conversation, Ambere decided to take the lead and threw her phone number into his hands to see if he’d reach out and luckily, he did! We had our first date at a Detroit Tigers game and quickly connected over our shared values and interests, and our relationship grew naturally from there.
We got engaged in 2015 and married in 2017 in a small, intimate ceremony with close friends and family. In 2018, we bought our first home that we continue to reside in. In 2020, we welcomed two labrador retrievers into our family, who have added even more joy to our home.
In our free time we enjoy spending time with our dogs, Hank and Otis. Whether it’s going for walks, visiting dog parks, playing frisbee for hours, swimming at the beach or just a quick car ride for a pup cup! We enjoy taking them with us to as many places we can, such as weekend trips up north, the beach and outdoor restaurants in the summer. We both enjoy watching and attending sporting events together, especially baseball and football.
Ambere: My hobbies include gardening, reading, calligraphy, home decor and tackling new home projects. I enjoy a leisurely stroll in a thrift store to unwind and discover a good vintage find. I love a good DIY project, if there’s something I think I can tackle myself you can bet I am rolling up my sleeves and executing to the fullest.
Brian: I enjoy spending my free time outdoors including one of my greatest passions which is golf. I play on a league and enjoy traveling to different courses all throughout Michigan. At home, I enjoy outdoor cooking on my grills and smoking meats to share with friends and family. To unwind, I enjoy catching up on a good TV series or having a video game session with friends.

We are incredibly grateful to both have connections with our immediate and extended families. Ambere speaks with her parents daily and loves nothing more than being called “Dede” by her seven nieces and nephews. Ambere cherishes spending quality time with them, creating lasting memories through spontaneous lunch dates, concerts, trips, and shopping adventures. Ambere and her mom often travel to Florida to visit her grandmother and aunt.
Brian’s extended family is known for hosting joyful gatherings filled with tradition and togetherness. You will often catch Brian on the sideline watching his nephew’s football games. Brian also has a group of friends he’s remained connected with since junior high and high school. They have seen each other get married, have children, and ensure they never miss their annual golf trip.
Our home is nestled in a suburban neighborhood that is family-friendly where neighbors genuinely look out for one another. Within walking distance to us is an elementary school and collegiate high school. Our community is full of parks with playgrounds, walking trails, and open play areas. The city we live in has a community center that offers child activities, group sport opportunities, swim lessons and has an aquatic center. Most of our friends and family members live close by in Metro Detroit and within a short driving distance.
Inside our home, you’ll find a warm and welcoming space and the kind of lived-in comfort that makes you feel at home. We enjoy cooking and sharing a meal together, including a nightly tradition of sitting at the table together each night. Ambere loves to host and throw parties, we often host family and friends for BBQs, holiday gatherings or to watch sporting events.
Our backyard is fully fenced and has a large grassy area perfect for kids and dogs to play. Our covered patio is the perfect relaxing area with an outdoor kitchen and comfortable seating area. Our basement is fully finished and ready with lots of toys passed down from our nieces and nephews.
We plan to raise our child in an environment that prioritizes education. We intend to use the local public school system but am open to exploring school of choice options if it better suits the child’s individual needs and learning style. Our goal is to be actively involved in their schooling, advocate for them always, and nurture their strengths.
Our approach to discipline will align with the way we were both raised. Discipline will consist of love, consistency and respect for each other. We do not believe in physical punishment. Instead, we plan to focus on leading by example, staying calm in stressful situations, and guiding our child through positive reinforcement.
We will praise good behavior and offer suggestions when behavior needs correction. Our goal is to help our child develop emotional awareness, self-control, and a strong sense of responsibility in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Ambere: I was raised Catholic, attending catechism, mass, and parochial school. My faith gave me a strong foundation, and I continue to value traditions like prayer and celebrating holidays with intention. While I no longer attend mass regularly, I appreciate the guidance and sense of community my upbringing provided. While the Catholic faith has grounded me, I do believe in modernizing views and value practicing faith in a way that promotes love and inclusion.
Brian: I was raised Methodist, attended church and Sunday school regularly. My extended family continues to be closely connected to their Christian faith.
Our shared goal is to raise our child with a foundation rooted in kindness and respect, while encouraging openness to different beliefs. Our extended family includes a range of religious backgrounds including Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, and Judaism which we hope will provide a rich environment for spiritual exploration.
For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of becoming a nurse. I began working in health care at the age of 18 as a nurse aide while attending nursing school. I have a naturally empathetic heart and find genuine joy in caring for others.
I currently work for Corewell Health as a liver transplant nurse coordinator. My role is to help manage patients who are experiencing end stage liver disease and guide them through the transplant process.
What I enjoy most about being a liver transplant nurse coordinator is the opportunity to help patients and their family members through one of the most critical and life changing moments of their lives. I get to work alongside an incredible transplant team, and I have the privilege of being a part of patients receiving the ultimate gift: a second chance at life.
At time of placement, I anticipate taking the first 12 weeks off. I work for a large health care system that provides benefits for time off for non-birthing parents. My department and co-workers are highly supportive of work-life balance and ensure that I am able to meet personal and professional responsibilities.
Brian and I are both able to have flexibility within our schedule to care for a child. On the days when we both have work, we will utilize immediate family for childcare.
I have always wanted to work in the healthcare field and always enjoyed helping others. Although I do not work directly with caring for patients, I found a career that I am very passionate about. I work for a major health system in Michigan (Henry Ford Health) as a coordinator in Emergency Department coding. As a coordinator in my coding department, I am able to provide education and perform quality reviews for my group.
One thing I find enjoyable about my work is that things are constantly changing year to year. Staying up to date on all the changes can be challenging but keeps it fresh. My job is also fully remote with very flexible hours which definitely has its perks.
I also work for a large health care system that provides benefits for time off for non-birthing parents. At the time of placement, I will take my paternity leave and utilize up to the 12 weeks I am provided. I work from home permanently and am able to create my weekly schedule that allows tremendous flexibility when caring for a child.
My great grandparents immigrated from Poland and Ireland. Growing up holidays were especially meaningful and centered around quality family time and religious traditions. From observing lent and celebrating Easter by painting colorful eggs and blessing baskets filled with food to attending Christmas Eve mass and baking all the Christmas cookies.
My grandfather was a talented Polish baker and inspired my love for traditional Polish cooking. My great grandmother would sing Irish music to us as children, her favorite song was “Danny Boy,” and sparked my continued love for St. Patrick’s Day and the color green.
My family also has strong European ancestry. My father’s side of the family immigrated from Poland and Latvia. My mother’s side of the family immigrated from Ireland and Scotland. Family gatherings have always been important to us as we enjoy spending a lot of time together.
We enjoy celebrating major holidays with each other and incorporating some traditions in as well. My family enjoys a competitive chili cookoff and getting together annually for a Memorial Day BBQ to honor our family members who have passed.
If you choose us, we would be honored to raise your child with love, patience, and provide them with endless opportunities. We promise to give them a safe and happy home, and to help them grow into someone who knows they are deeply loved not just by us, but by you too. We also want you to know that you will always be welcome in our lives, now and in the future, if that’s something your heart desires. Both of our families are ready to welcome you with open and warm hearts.
We want you to know that we already see your strength and courage as you navigate this decision. We can’t pretend to understand everything you’re going through, but we do want you to feel supported, respected, and never alone in this journey.
We’re here for you, and we mean that. No matter what you decide, we hope you feel surrounded by care and kindness.
From the moment we began our adoption journey, our hearts have been full of hope, not just for us but for you and your child. Hope that your brave and selfless decision is one that brings you peace. Hope that we can connect with you and walk alongside this journey of both happy and heartache. Hope to be a source of support for one another, leaning on each other with understanding and compassion.
We promise to welcome your child into our life and loving them with everything that we have. We both are deeply empathetic and will always honor your place in their life story. We believe in keeping a meaningful connection through in person visits, FaceTime, text and videos if that is something that will bring you comfort and maintains the bond you share. If you have visions of being at their first sporting event, consider this your invitation. If you want to spend holidays with our extended families, your seat at the table will be ready.
If you choose us, please know that we will go all in pouring our love, time and energy into giving your child a safe, happy, and nurturing home. Your strength and courage will always be a part of our family’s story, and your child will always know how deeply they are loved by you.
