Kevin & Kassie

Kevin & Kassie

While we have worked at the academy, we have shared our home with boys and girls from different family backgrounds. Our home can be calm and peaceful and other times filled with crazy laughter. The students that have stayed with us have found comfort and a place to call home.

We have been blessed to expand our family circle which has allowed us to be a listening ear and to offer love and guidance.

We have been blessed to expand our family circle which has allowed us to be a listening ear and to offer love and guidance. These children have gone on to call us mom and dad, say I love you, ask for advice, share where they are at in life, celebrate marriages, and visit whenever possible.

Our Story

Being married at a young age, we have been blessed to be married now for thirty years. We chose to wait for eight years before having our first daughter allowing us the opportunity to mature, complete our education goals (bachelors/masters degrees), and grow closer as husband and wife.

We love spending time together and with our family. Currently, we have two daughters, one son-in-law and another soon-to-be son-in-law come July 2022. We have also had the privilege to be called mom and dad by academy students who have not only come into our homes but our hearts as well.

We get exercise and alone time communicating with one another.

Our Relaxation & Fun

We love the simple pleasures in life. Our day starts early by walking together for an hour. This quality time is twofold, we get exercise and alone time communicating with one another. Because of working at a boarding school, we have the opportunity to be involved in flag football, volleyball, badminton, and floor hockey.

While we are a part of the gymnastics team, we are able to travel and visit many different places. With this amount of travel, we appreciate the time we are able to spend at home with reading, walking outdoors, cooking, and cleaning. Small hikes and camping outdoors is a great opportunity to enjoy being in nature.

Our Family & Friends

We have a strong, supportive family and friend group. Because we work, live and attend church in the same community, we are able to support for one another in raising children. The rural setting is quiet and safe. Children are able to ride their bikes, go for walks, run and play. Because we work so closely with one another, our friends become more like family. Our children have had a beautiful support group that has continued even after leaving home.

The quiet rural setting offers a safe place to raise children surrounded by a community of like minded believers.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We have the privilege of working and living on a christian boarding school campus. The high school in which we both work at is located next to the church and elementary school. The quiet rural setting offers a safe place to raise children surrounded by a community of like minded believers.

Our Thoughts On...

Education

Christian education is very important to us. We have been able to provide and would continue to provide this education for our children. As part of the benefits of working for the Academy, we receive a 70% tuition discount for elementary through college schooling. This schooling has smaller classroom sizes, which allows for a more one-on-one setting.

Our children are not only better prepared academically but socially as well. One added benefit of both of us working at the school is that we have the opportunity to be close to our children. If there is a school program, if there is a sickness, field trip, or special event, we can always be there.

Correction & Discipline

We believe discipline occurs through discipleship, meaning to teach. It is our desire to be proactive in raising children teaching them how to think and to make healthy decisions. By spending time together you learn how a child reacts in certain situations and can “customize” molding their behavior. Getting down to their level and communicating in a way they can understand is critical.

Our Faith Views

We work, live and worship in a Seventh day Adventist community. This is a special and unique environment to raise children. Because we work at the school, we are able to be near to our children every day.

With this being a Christian school, there are daily opportunities through worship to have a closer connection with God. On Sabbath (Saturday) we attend church with our students, coworkers, family, and community members. This support group has been a tremendous blessing.

Because we work at the school, we are able to be near to our children every day.
There is always something that needs repair and this allows me to teach and train the youth.

Kevin's Career

I have the privilege of working with students and teaching them how to fix things. I work on a campus with two dormitories, a cafeteria, a fitness center, an administrative building, and 24 staff homes. There is always something that needs repair and this allows me to teach and train the youth.

My wife and I work together and live on campus. We eat lunch together in the cafeteria and would be able to stop in and help care for the child throughout the day. It is a blessing to work and live on campus.

Kassie's Career

I work at a Christian boarding academy for students in grades 9 – 12. I meet with parents to put together a financial plan that will work for them to afford for their child to attend. I also love doing the financial planning and budgeting for the school. We live on campus and enjoy being so close to the students.

I have the awesome opportunity to be off and bond with the child when they are placed in our home. I have a job that believes in family and Adventist education. We have an elementary school just up the hill from my office for grades K – 8. It is a wonderful school with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Until they are ready to start school, I would be able to bring them to work or have my mother be with them.

I also love doing the financial planning and budgeting for the school.

We just want to say

Please know that this is not a spontaneous decision. This is something that has been prayed over for years. We understand that this is the most unselfish thing that you can do and it is our hearts desire to love and care for your child(ren). We are at a time in our life that we can devote time and attention to raising a young child. We believe our mature marital, financial and spiritual relationship has prepared us to welcome and love an adopted child(ren).
